Construction of Istanbul New Airport in Turkey is 80% complete, with the initial phase slated to open on October 29. The estimated cost of the project is USD12.3bn. once complete, the first phase of the airport will have three independent and parallel runways, taxiways, terminal building, air traffic control tower, communication and weather systems. In the initial phase, the airport is expected to accommodate 90mn passengers annually. IGA is the engineering, procurement and construction contractor and operator for the project. The 3.75km long and 60m wide first runway at the airport is complete, according to IGA CEO Yusuf Akçayoglu (TradeArabia). When all phases of the airport are complete in 2028, the annual passenger capacity of the airport will reach 200mn, according to GET.
